🏎 Otto Racing Car – 3D Printable Chassis🏎
Transform your Otto robot into a mini autonomous racing car with obstacle detection and track-driving capabilities.
This lightweight chassis, inspired by Formula racing cars, gives Otto a completely new look while preserving all original electronics and sensors. The front ultrasonic sensor acts as the driver’s eyes, enabling the robot to detect obstacles and react in real time.
This project demonstrates how the Otto platform can be extended into creative STEM robotics applications.

🧠 How It Works
The Otto robot is mounted inside the chassis and secured using two connectors.
The front support wheel allows smooth “car-like” movement
The ultrasonic sensor detects obstacles:
🔴 LEDs flash red when approaching an obstacle
⛔ Robot stops when too close
▶ Continues driving after obstacle is removed
💡 White LEDs on the sensor can be turned on/off
🎮 Manual control is available via web interface (joystick)
🛠 Assembly
Move the support wheel to the front position
(Optional) Replace the wheels with included racing versions
Insert the Otto robot into the chassis
Secure it using the two connectors
Upload the control code (main.py) using Arduino Lab for MicroPython
No screws or glue required
🖨 Printing
Recommended settings:
Layer height: 0.2 mm
Infill: 15–20%
Supports: not required
Material: PLA / PETG
All STL files are pre-oriented for optimal printing.

🎨 Custom Nose Logo (Modular Insert)
The lightning symbol on the nose is a separate interchangeable insert.
You can easily create your own custom logo 👇
Create/import logo in Inkscape (SVG)
Save as Plain SVG
Add outline (~0.4 mm stroke)
Convert: Path → Stroke to Path
Merge: Path → Union
Export SVG
Import into Tinkercad
Set height to ~2 mm
Export as STL and use as nose insert
