EASTER EGG

This Easter egg decoration can be given as a kit for assembly by the recipient, or as a gift box filled with Easter symbols or just chocolate!

The finished egg is 90mm tall (about 3.5 inches) and may be hung or simply left on a bench.

Printing is easy and straight forward, just make sure if you choose to print all of the pieces at once that your bed is level and super clean.

All the pieces shown were printed with a 0.4mm nozzle in Prusa Slicer 0.2mm QUALITY  mode with Concentric top and bottom fill patterns.

I have used PLA with a colour change at 8 layers (1.6mm) and they are great, but I suggest that if the model is to be reassembled a few times PETG will be more durable.

ASSEMBLY

The parts are a tight press fit initially but should not need to be forced - if they don't fit at first check for elephant's foot and gently scrape with a blade.  (If you use the print settings above this should not be a problem).

Press the two compression ribs firmly into place - when they are in place they will fit flush with the adjoining surfaces. (these fit on the INSIDE of the parts)

Now fit each rib in place (on the OUTSIDE) -  insert each rib into the top part first for easier assembly and to minimise distortion of the egg during this process.

Don't worry if one or two pop out while you are working your way around - once the assembly is complete the whole structure will become quite stable.
