Description
Nearly 2 years ago I created print-in-place bag clips. They work fine. But every thing can break (after a while). My printed models work great for rather some time (months) but eventually tend to break at the 2 small parts of the closing latch/lid (whatever it's called in English).
So my goal is to make them last longer.
What I changed:
The clip is slightly wider, also increasing the width of the weak point in the model
Thicken the weak point
This results in a more strong but also less flexible while the flexibility is needed to work properly. To solve this problem:
I prolonged this part by adding a circular shaped hole
Additionally changes:
Chamfers added so the edges are less 'sharp'
V-shape where the 2 ends of the closing parts meet. The V-shape makes better alignment of the 2 parts.
Printing:
I have just printed the model:
I only have used PETG
0.6mm nozzle
0,32mm layer height
20% to 25% Gyroid infill
NO supports
No brim/skirt
After printing:
Take it of the buildplate and gently swivel open the clip. The hinge may be somewhat stubborn the first time but last prints it almost opened without any hassle.
Around the hinge between the 2 parts there may be one or 2 filament lines which are not connected. Just pull them out.
