The Claw - Collapsible Back Scratcher

I loved the look of The Back Scratcher but found that those tiny points didn't offer as much scratching satisfaction as I wanted. So I replaced the focused tips with wide blades for maximum scratchage. And then, while I was at it, I threw in a different handle system that rockets out with a satisfying “Swick!” and stays out until the job is done. Then you just tap it on the head and it retracts, ready to get tucked into a bedside drawer until summoned again.

If you prefer muddymaker's original handle or claw head, mine are interchangeable, since I've used the same connection thread. So feel free to mix and match to get exactly the scratching goodness you want.

Printing

I use PLA with 10% rectilinear infill and 4 perimeters at 0.3mm resolution without supports and it comes out perfectly every time. (I've been making them for friends ever since I started showing it around.)

For best results, I print the claw head “knuckles down” with the threaded socket and fingertips both pointing up at a 45 degree angle.

The handle needs to be printed as one piece, with the open end down. On my printer, I use a 1mm outer brim on all 3 concentric parts to be sure they stay fixed to the bed, but you may not need it.
