Keihan/Kohler 32 853 07-S Carbuerator Bowl Gasket

When getting my mower ready for Spring, I noticed had a fuel leak on my 23HP kohler courage engine riding mower. Fuel would weep up the screw holes and out the sides. 

I pulled the carburetor off and nothing looked wrong. Only after i pulled the gasket did I see the crack in the seal. 

I'd normally order a replacement gasket but for some reason, no rebuild kits are easily findable for this carburetor. There are a few potential yamaha swap but I don't feel like spending $15 only to find it doesn't work. I also didn''t really feel like immediately using a clone carb so I decided it'd be a good exercise to learn.

Utilizing mangojelly's excellent tracing tutorial in freecad, I sketched a 2d scan of the gasket in about 30 minutes and printed it out. 

It fit perfectly and sealed the carb. It has had no leaks for after running for several hours and exposed to gasoline for weeks. 


Print notes: 

You must use TPU - any other material will not properly seal or resist gasoline. 95A should work. 

Ensure your TPU is gasoline resistant. When in doubt, take a cut of filament and soak it in a small cup with gasoline. 

EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION - if your engine has the carburetor over the exhaust, like my twin Kohler, there is the potential for gasoline to spill onto a hot exhaust.  Do not hold me liable when you mower catches fire because this gasket fails. 

Slice with 0.12 layers and 3 walls. 


Install: 
Note the direction of the carb gasket as it does matter.
