Home NAS based on Orange Pi 4 Pro + ASM1166

Parts:

• Orange Pi 4 Pro (Allwinner A733)

• Micro SD Card 16+ GB
  Note: Bootloader/kernel/initrd can be installed to the internal 16MB SPI Flash

• ASM1166 (m.2) PCIe to 6xSATA-III bridge. (PCIe 3.0 x2, but works in x1 mode)

• 6x SATA cables with power (see photos for reference)

• 8010 5v Fan

• Optional Components:

  • GM12864-01A (128x64 monochrome display)

  • 2.1x5.5mm Female Jack (if you use more than 2 disks - connect external power source! Do not use Type-C port!)

  • For PWM fan control: 2N2222 transistor, 1N4007 diode, 1kOhm resistor

• Recommended PSU:

  • Direct 5V: High-quality 5V 10A+ power supply.

  • External: 12V or 19V (Laptop) adapter + Step-down (Buck) converter.
    Ensure the converter can handle at least 10A continuous output to avoid voltage drops during HDD spin-up.

• Storage: Up to 6x 2.5" SATA HDDs/SSDs. Supports software RAID (mdadm, LVM, or ZFS).

• Other:

  • 16x M3 Brass Heat-set Insert Nuts (M3xL4xOD4.2)

  • 16x M3x5 (or M3x8) screws
