Description

This 3D-printable vacuum attachment transforms Otto into a small cleaning robot, perfect for young beginners in robotics. With simple programming, kids can turn Otto into a “Roomba” to clean their rooms while learning coding and robotics in a fun way.

The model is designed to be printed in separate parts to minimize supports, with built-in joints for easy assembly after printing. The vacuum is suspended using two pieces: a top base that sits on Otto and a hook piece that attaches to Otto’s bottom hole, ensuring stable mounting.

The vacuum includes a removable container to collect all the dirt Otto picks up, sliding easily along the included rails. To operate the vacuum, a small round motor (common in household gadgets) is needed, connected directly to Otto’s board. Users should carefully orient the fan when assembling to create an effective suction effect.

Furthermore, if you have already bought an otto with its parts and you can't disassemble it to put another box, case or somenthing, don't worry! This model is designed to every person who has an otto so with its "base" you don't have the need to disassmble the model.

Designed for education, fun, and practicality, this attachment is a great project for young makers exploring 3D printing, CAD, and simple robotics.

Here I let you some instructions to asemble the model correctly (I reccomend you to stick them with glue):

  1. Connect the "Nozzle" to the "tube":

  1. Connect the "tube 2" to the "connector 1":

I prefer not to stick the "tube 2" to the "tube" because in that form you could put on and take off the components as many times as you want. You only have to, first, disconnect the base (with all the parts that it has) form the Otto and then disconnect the nozzle with the tube. In that form the component will be separated in two objects which will help asembling the component to the otto.

  1. Connect the "tube2 and the connector 1" to the "base":

  1. Connect the "motor placement" to the "base":

  1. Connect the motor to the "propeller":

  1. Connect the "conector 2" to the "base". Make sure you put first the motor with the "propeller" into the "motor placement" so that the conector 2 will  ensure to hold on the motor:

(after sticking the connector to the base (if you stick it) you won't be able to withdraw the motor, so think carefully before doing this step)

.

  1. after sticking all the parts you are only mising conecting the "filter" and "waste deposit" to the components. This parts are designed to move so DON'T STICK THEM!

In case of you can't connect the motor cable to the otto's motherboard, I prepared some instructions to put an electric circuit to it:

The circuit is simple, you have to buy a battery to spin the motor. Here we have some options: my recomendation is to buy a 9v battery to have the enough power to create that suction effect if you want more power you can try with the 9v battery and the AA battery together but you will have to watch if your motor can resist it. To complete the circuit you have to put a switch in the positive cable (the red one) to turn on and off the vacuum.

To connect this sistem with the otto, I designed a box to hold the 9v battery. You can stick that box to the "base" but NOT TO THE WASTE DEPOSIT because it has to move. Then you stick also the switch in one side of the "base" and it will be finished. You can find that model on my printables profile: https://www.printables.com/@amets_mendi_4620964

Extra Tip: If you want better results, I recomend to reinforce the first and second conections (of the instructions to asemble it) with a heat shrink tube, but be careful with the heat, if you heat up too much the PLA wil melt. I would also connect connections 1 and 2 with electrical tape, so we could remove it whenever we want.
