Description

Given the original files were irretrievably archived by Autodesk during their Fusion 360 downgrade, this will be the last version.

THE V5 FILES ARE CURRENT AND HAVE CORRECTED DIMENSIONS

  • The "Fancy" version has some nice chamfers and contours to allow smooth and seamless transitions to the radio head, however it is more difficult to print and have decent results without post-processing.

  • The "Basic" version is just as you would think. Sharp angles, easy printing, and half the file size!

ENVIRONMENT

  • If you intend on using this in a vehicle or go-kit you will want to use ABS, PETG, or another thermally resilient material. PLA will not work

*This will not fit the 7800/7900 series of radios, I made that mistake in reverse the first time. The 7800 series uses clips on the sides rather than the top and bottom.

This also fits the FT-8800, TH-9800, and many other Yaesu knockoffs of the same style

Notes:

Printed the base section at %45 infill. Sides and tab were done at %80 infill.*I know this seems like a lot, but it allows elasticity and good sufficient layer bonding. I found that %100 was too much and became brittle with an ugly surface finish.

Depending on printer and cooling setup, supports may be needed to print the retaining tabs correctly.

  • If you know of a way to prevent the supports from colliding with the walls I would like to know.

  • Also, if you know of a way to keep the bottom(back) contours smooth on the "Fancy" version I would appreciate that information. I am currently sanding and polishing the back after a print.
