Description
This hidden bumper door is designed for neat installation of an electric hook-up, water in- or outlet, or any other accessory you may want to ‘hide’ behind on of the bumper bellies left or right.
The design uses the original bumper belly panels, located on the left and/or right side of the tailgate above the bumper. The full assembly is designed so it can be adjusted in all directions for accurate fitment.
The parts that mount to the vehicle are shaped to match the contour of the car. They are held in place with threaded rivets, although bonding them to the chassis is also possible. Keep in mind that bonding will partly reduce the vertical adjustment range.
See the attached PDF (updated 06-06-2026) for a simple guide to mount everything.
I'm open to comments and or suggestions to improve the model or guide.
note: I fully tested the left- side version, the right-side should work similar.
Please consider a donation if you like and use the design.
Best to use an 'outdoor resistant' filament eg. ASA. I used .20 layer hight and some extra solid layers and side walls for extra strength @ 15-25% infill. For print bed orientation see images below, supports are needed for the car mount (HB) on the middel image. Depending on your printer overhang capacity the bottom one (HS) might also need supports. Hinge parts need to be printed twice (see top image) as you'll need 2 complete hinges.
