Dioram: Layered Mountain Portrait Ambiance LED 001 Kit Light

I made this light as an ode to Maya Karkalicheva's “Sunset Over Mountain Layers” portrait of the Rhodope Mountains in Bulgaria. 

The Rhodopes are known for their rolling peaks, and this portrait captured their edges silhouetted by the sunset sky, and my models captures those silhouettes.

Confession, this model is slightly tricky to assemble, but it is carefully designed without any use of AI to print super easily and the slide insets are keyed to be somewhat foolproof. Prints without supports or AMS. The print profile includes three frames, one with smooth walls, and two each with different wood grain patterns. All together, the print time is going to be roughly 5 to 5 and a half hours for all the pieces, depending on which frame you choose. 

The base accommodates a 60mm Maker Supply LED Kit 001, and while I usually don't like colored lights, found that several of the colors looked good to me in this lamp. 

Printed in Polymaker Pastel Peanut, but would look stark and hyper modern in black or charcoal, cozy and homey in earthy tones. You've heard this all before, I'm sure, but it really does feel pretty versatile. In the pictures, you'll see a band halfway through the frame - that's where I ran out of filament and had to sub in the next-closest one I had which was Elegoo beige. Don't judge me.
