Description
This is a custom case for Browan Tabs GPS LoRaWAN trackers used as cat trackers. The case is designed to be attached to a normal pet-safe collar.
The case consists of two different parts:
An inner holder for the PCB and antenna taken made of PLA to give structure and make sure the antenna is connected to the flex pin on the PCB
An outer shell where battery, PCB-bundle and AirTag are within. It is best printed from TPU (I use glow-in-the-dark TPU). The cover can be welded onto the top using a soldering iron for a waterproof fit.
The USB-C port can be made watertight by using magnetic connectors and hot glue.
The Antenna is actually an adhesive foil than can easily be removed from the original case and attached to the PLA cover, one corner has to be flipped. I have not noticed a lack of GPS or LoRa availability.
The two PLA parts can be printed with minimal to no support.
The TPU case should have supports within the battery cavity and the collar holes. The TPU cover needs support within the dome.
Finding these if a cat lost one is really easy with this setup:
1. GPS location give a good indication on where to search
2. AirTag gives pretty exact information and audio cues
3. Glow-In-The-Dark TPU works well at dusk and with a flashlight.
