Description
The skywalker roaster v2 from itop includes a bean cooling tray but that is not very efficient. I tried reversing the fans to blow air over the beans as some suggested. It improves cooling but it is still not fast enough for me. In addition reversing the fans blows chaff in your face when you open the tray.
So I used a commonly available chinese bean cooler that cools the beans a very short time (2 minutes). The idea is to drop the beans in the external cooler direclty. so I raised the machine on 4 15cm furniture pillars using an OSB board.
If you raise the machine, the beans will just flow in all directions, so a hopper / funnel is needed. It collects the beans into the external cooler tray.
To mount the funnel, I removed the tray handle (has 3 screws on the inside). I used the existing holes to mount the funnel. I made a hole in the middle using the existing middle hole as guide. Then I just inserted two m4 metric screws in the other two holes to support the funnel horizontally.. Of course, you can just drill two different holes into the roaster's plastic tray but I wanted to leave it as is and it works for me.
Print it preferably using a heat resistant material. I actually used PLA because it was my first test and I am pretty sure the temperature is not that high on the funnel itself but I will see how it works.
The model was made using OpenSCAD so it is parametric. You can adjust it to your preference if needed (such as wall thickness and dimensions).
