Description
I went through a lot of existing filament swatch designs and kept running into the same issue—they included information I didn’t need, like layer height, and left out things I actually do use. So I designed my own with a more practical, real-world workflow in mind.
These swatches were built specifically to pair with the drybox system from Filament Storage 2026 Printables Model, which I’ve found to be one of the best setups out there. The tag holder on the front of those dryboxes has a specific size, and these swatches are designed to fit it cleanly and securely—no guessing, no trimming, no sloppy fit.
I created two versions to keep things flexible depending on how you track your filament:
• RFID Version – Includes a dedicated slot for an RFID/NFC tag (I use these https://amzn.to/3Qhosjg), along with a larger slot for printed labels from 3dfilamentprofiles.com. This version lets you scan a box and instantly pull up all your filament data—no manual lookup, no extra steps.
• Label-Only Version – A simpler option with just the label slot for those who prefer a clean, analog setup or don’t need NFC integration.
Beyond the drybox system, these swatches are just genuinely useful across the board. Whether you’re organizing spools on a rack, building a reference library, or dialing in colors for prints, they give you a consistent, easy-to-read way to track what you actually care about.
Let me know what you think in the comments. Thanks.
