Description

Made a sprinkler because I always seem to freeze mine and got tired of dropping 10-15 bucks every time.

Printed in PLA, no supports needed. Shouldn't need a brim, but maybe if your build surface isn't great. It should import in the correct orientation (on the flat where the threaded hole is)

Objectives:

  • Smallish print. I think it was a 45 minute print for me.

  • It sprays away from the hose, so you can pick it up without getting too wet. If standing at the sprinkler on the grand with it facing away, it should be about 12-15 feet wide, and about 10-12 deep. (I can modify this fairly easily if there is demand for another shape)

  • I worked hard on the threads, a normal NH or garden hose thread angle doesn't print great so I made my own with a modified angle and it prints much better, threads smoothly and doesn't leak with my hoses.

  • Printable with default settings. I'd recommend at least 2-3 walls if it's not default for your slicer

  • .20mm layer height

Caveats:

  • the holes are 1mm. Some printers and settings may struggle with this, but most modern printers should be just fine.

  • It's a bit of a roll of the dice on exactly how square the shape will be. it's kind of oval-ly. The holes are aimed, but only print so well. I've still got a few ideas on how to improve this but need to work on some other projects.

  • Remember that water might weep a tiny bit out of micro cracks, especially if you have abnormally high line pressure. Most sprinklers get wet anyway so I'm not worried. One thing that could help is to align the seems away from the holes, and far away from each other on the inside and outside.

As always, I take suggestions and I am happy to modify for reasonable requests, and if you have problems printing it let me know so I can either remove it or fix it.
