Description
As a kid I remember my dad trying to grow lotus flowers by buying the dried (and sometimes spray painted) seed pods from floral shops and craft stores, then grinding them against the concrete patio until he made a hole in the seed coats before soaking them in water. But thanks to stricter import laws (or maybe it's the profit from processing the seeds into paste), those seed pods now get imported into the U.S. devoid of seeds. Or I haven't seen any in the last ten years (and yes, I have looked).
So here's a model of a lotus seed pod ... with the seeds printed separately so after you assemble (and glue) everything, the seeds gently rattle in the seed pod! And you can spin the seeds if you want something to fidget with.
I've included two STL files: shows the model after assembly, the other ready to print. You might want to print with supports (only a few spots), and print the seeds with brims so they're less prone to popping off the print bed during printing.
