Allsky Camera V3 Upgrade - Motorized Dome [Experimental]

The ultimate allsky accessory to turn your allsky camera into a true miniture garden observatory!

Shield your allsky sensor from UV rays or keep birds off the dome during the day - many other practical uses may also exist. No change required to the Allsky V3 Dome - simply replace the outer dome ring with this upgrade.

Innovative stepped pinion gear to drive shells both in opening and closure

Designed as a 1:1 replacement of the existing V3 dome fixation ring - the stepper motor is enclosed external to the main housing:

• DIY Wiring: You will require to make your own DIY wiring connection into the main dome, with modification to the existing housing to pass 5 wire motor cable.

• Water Resistance: Motor enclosure optimised to avoid water ingress - but not waterproof.  Long term exposure of 28BYJ-48 stepper motor to external environment to be evaluated.

• Scripts: sugguested control scripts posted to my github page here for 360 forward and backward rotation from Pi4/Pi5 GPIO board.
