Description
The SweetGum Sweeper was my solution to not only cleaning the yard, but reusing leftover (new) Prusament spools. Other companies in the market for designs like this are charging over $400 USD and I wanted to change that. Thanks to Prusa for their competition which inspired me to really work hard and get this done by a certain date. My hope is that many will see this design, and expand on it creating an open ecosystem making it even better each time!
This model is has a pickup width of around 11"
I recommend printing all the components, aside from the Pick-Up Disks in either PETG, ABS, ASA, or other weather resistant materials. PLA should work, but may be a bit susceptible to warping if used on a hot and sunny day.
For the Pick-Up Disks, 95A TPU should be sturdy enough, while also having enough give to it.
The numbers in parentheses after the model name is the amount of that part required for assembly.
This model .requires a 256mm^3 build plate
Total print varies by printer but will most likely take around 5 days in printing time.
Depending on print tolerances, pins may need to be scaled up or down 1% or so.
Main Material:
Orange: 917g
Black: 830g
White 38g
TPU:
Orange: 833g
All numbers are an estimate using slicer software with my configured settings.
A 3MF is available with all settings presaved.
Unless specified otherwise, use these settings:
Normal: 5 Walls, 20% Gyroid Infill
Basket Parts (All parts with the word basket other than hooks): 8 Walls, 25% Gyroid Infill
Basket Hooks: 10 Walls, 30% Gyroid Infill
Assembling the SweetGum Sweeper is very simple. The explosion views of the design should be enough to assembly the entire model, other than the pins that hold majority of it together. For the pins, line up the holes on each side of the model where it will connect. For the wipers, once lined up with the Pick-Up disks in which no contact between the wipers or pick-up disks are made you will screw those to the beams with screws of your choice. Make sure that all Pick-Up Disks go on the spool facing the same way! If you are using the linked basket, you will need to drill holes in the front side large enough to fit the hooks.
Basket: Roughly 9"x9"x5" needed size is not exact, but front side must be shallow. https://www.target.com/p/small-drop-front-stacking-storage-bin-brightroom-8482/-/A-89811884#lnk=sametab
