Description
I had some empty prusament spools and refill from a different manufacturer that didn't fit the prusament spool due to differing diameters. So I replaced the core of the spool to fit this other refill.
Separating the prusament spools was also a bit too tedious for me, requiring a separate tool and sometimes significant force, so I made this to be easier to use.
It consists of two parts that twist into each side of the prusament spool. This can then be twisted together to form a complete spool. When assembling, I suggest putting the adapters into the spool halves first (as there are a few unpleasant sharp corners when handling them without the spool). When opening the spool, the two core halves split apart first, as this is all that is needed to actually replace the filament. Separating the new core halves from the spool is easy too, but usually not necessary.
This is designed for refills that have an inner diameter of about 82 mm, and a width of about 60 mm. As far as I can tell, this matches the Sunlu refill spools, which I used before making this, as well as Spectrums refill spool, which I've also used.
So far, I've tested this on Spectrum/TheFilament refills.
I've printed mine with a standard 0.4 mm nozzle at 0.2 mm layer height out of PLA and PCTG, both materials work fine so far. The model has 45° overhangs, so it does not need supports and prints fine with printing the outer wall first.
UNTESTED: As far as I can tell, bambu and bambu compatible refills use the same inner diameter and width and should thus be compatible, but I don't have any of their refill.
