Introduction

The Kingrinder K6 is a versatile grinder and great addition to any kitchen. However, the screw-on receiver cup can be better if it is attached magnetically.

I've the 4x2mm neodymium magnets on hand and decided to create this magnetic attachment. With this, the receiver cup snaps on securely and stays on when grinding beans.

The receiver cup can be easily pulled off or simply twisted off to weaken the magnetic pull. A slight 18 degrees twist to weaken the bond, another 18 degrees to make it repel and pop off.

Required Materials

  1. 10 x 4x2mm neodymium magnets

Printing Details

  • Material: PETG

  • Layer height: 0.2mm

  • Walls: 3

  • Top and bottom layers: 3

  • Fill: Gyroid, 30%

  • Ironing: Only for top attachment, all top layers (to smooth magnet surface and inner ring sleeve

  • Orientation: As per model

  • Support: None

  • Brim: None

Assembly

Simply push the magnets into the magnet holes in alternate poles facing up (i.e., north-south-north-south). Use a flat object (e.g., edge of a key) to push it flush. The magnets are meant to fit snugly in the holes. If you can, avoid using super glue.

When magnets are placed with alternating poles, a small twist (approx. 18 degrees) will weaken the magnetic bond and larger twist (approx. 36 degrees) will cause the top and bottom piece to repel.
