Description
This is a fully parametric garden sign created in FreeCAD, designed to make labeling vegetable beds fast and easy. You only need to change the text string (for example: Carrot, Lettuce, Zucchini) and the model will automatically adapt its size to fit the text nicely with consistent margins.
When customizing the text in FreeCAD, you also need to select a font file in the ShapeString object, as shown in the second image. The font is not embedded, so FreeCAD requires a valid font file (e.g. .ttf or .otf) on your system. You can use any font you like, but for the example garden stakes shown here I used: “Affectionately Yours” by Misti Fonts: https://mistifonts.com/affectionately-yours
To make the text really stand out, you can perform a manual filament color change during printing:
With a 0.2 mm layer height, change filament at layer 16
Print the stake and backplate in a dark color
Switch to a bright or contrasting color for the text
Have fun!
