Description
The Giant Beaver Castoroides, which could grow to the size of a black bear, went extinct about 10,000 years ago, near the end of the last ice age. It's believed to have dined on aquatic plants and held a place in the ecosystem similar to that of the modern day African hippopotamus. It is believed that it did not build dams, but rather lived in burrows the way that muskrats do. It lived alongside the modern-day North American beaver, and you can find its skull here for comparison. I've cut the model apart so that you can print it in pieces if you want, laying the cut sides on the build plate. This makes it easier to print but harder to assemble. I painted the model with white paint-and-primer-in-one and then used wood stains to achieve the desired finish, topping it off with Krylon matte clear spray.
