Description
This is the digitally reconstructed cranium and mandible of an extinct ground sloth, megalonyx jeffersoni. It's named in honor of founding father Thomas Jefferson, who upon seeing claw bones from an unknown animal that had been found in a cave in Kentucky, mistook them for the claws of a giant lion, hence megalonyx (great claw). I broke the cranium into two parts for easier printing, but it could probably use some pegs for alignment lol. The print is painted with white paint-and-primer-in-one and then covered with various wood stains to achieve the desired finish. Finally, a coat of Krylon matte clear spray was applied.
