Holosun 510C Protective Cover

Summary

This cover conforms to the undercut edges on the base edge of the 510c for retention.  i.e. It doesn't just slide off.  There are also some intentional "thick" areas between the inner and outer shells to give it some structure and allow it to hold its shape.

There are other print models for covers that fit this sight available, with a more simple, thin, "slip-cover" design, that may even be easier to print.  I made this one mostly because the others I found were too prone to falling off.  There are also very inexpensive rubber covers for this sight available to purchase online, but those didn't offer the DIY entertainment value ;)

Printing suggestions/tips:

• Print from FLEX/TPU 95A (most common... stiff enough to autoload in some MMU printers)

• 15% honeycomb infill seems to be about the right amount of rigidity.

• Flip upside down, placing the larger sloped surface on the print bed

• If possible, print on a multi-extruder or multi-material printer that alternates between TPU/FLEX and another filament type (e.g. PLA), and use the other filament for supports.

  • Supports printed from TPU/FLEX wouldn't affect the function of the cover, but may be difficult to remove for a "clean" final appearance.
