Description
After experimenting with different layouts in my previous versions, this design returns to the original concept of a structured storage system for tabletop miniatures — while improving compatibility with a wider range of models.
This transport box is designed for miniatures used in games like Dungeons & Dragons and other tabletop RPGs or wargames. The box prints completely print-in-place as a single assembled model and consists of a base and a lid with an integrated snap-fit closure.
Features
Print-in-place design — no assembly required
Integrated snap-fit lid
Fits 10 miniatures
Internal dividers reduce movement during transport
Half-height divider walls improve compatibility with differently shaped miniatures
Designed to fit on printers such as the Prusa MK4
Lid is designed to optionally be lined with foam for additional protection
Design Changes Compared to Previous Versions
The very first version of this box used a fully divided interior with fixed slots for exactly 10 miniatures. While this kept the models secure, some larger or differently posed miniatures did not fit well.
Later versions increased the open space inside the box to improve compatibility, but this also allowed miniatures to move around more freely during transport.
This new version combines the advantages of both approaches:
The box once again provides dedicated space for 10 miniatures
The dividers help prevent excessive movement
The divider walls are only half-height and partially open, allowing most standard-sized miniatures to fit more comfortably
This makes the box a good balance between miniature protection and compatibility.
Printing Notes
Designed as a single-piece print-in-place model
Printing with supports is recommended for best results
Depending on your printer and material settings, using a brim may help improve bed adhesion
The hinge is designed to work smoothly immediately after printing and usually does not require a break-in period
If you print one, feel free to share your make and let me know what miniatures you use it for!
