Description
Tall sunflower-themed pen / marker / brush cup. Two design notes
make it more than a plain cylinder:
Petal crown at the rim — 18 stretched-ellipsoid petals splay
outward from the top of the wall. From the side the silhouette
reads as a sunflower head; from above as a sun. Petals merge at
their bases (no gappy gear-tooth look) and lean outward so the
inside of the cup stays straight-walled.
- Gothic quatrefoil grid engraved 0.8 mm deep into the body —
14 columns × 4 rows of cathedral-rose four-lobed motifs in a
brick-staggered pattern. Catches accent paint or a wash nicely if
you want to highlight the pattern.
Dimensions:
90 mm outer diameter, 100 mm tall.
- 2.6 mm wall, 3.0 mm floor — heavy enough not to tip when full of
pens.
- Petal tips extend ~9 mm above the rim — total height with crown
~109 mm.
Print profile (Bambu Lab P2S, PLA, 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layer):
Flat bottom on the bed, NO supports.
- Petals' lower hemispheres are ~30° overhangs (designed this way on
purpose) — print cleanly without supports on any modern FDM.
- 3 perimeters, 15 % gyroid infill, no brim.
- ~6-7 h, ~85 g PLA depending on slicer settings.
**Source .scadincluded** — every dimension is a top-of-file
parameter:
outer_r, height, wall_t, floor_t— envelope.
- petal_n, petal_W_tangent, petal_Z_vertical,
petal_tip_x_out— crown shape (fewer/wider petals, taller, more
splay).
- qf_rows, qf_cols, qf_lobe_r, qf_engrave_d— quatrefoil
density and depth.
Render variants from the bundled source with:
openscad -o sunflower_pen_cup.stl sunflower_pen_cup.scad
Single-colour print as shipped. For a two-tone look (gold petals on
a darker body) you can split the crown out by editing the .scad —
the crown()and body_with_quatrefoils()modules are already
separate, just emit each to its own STL and assemble in Bambu
Studio.
