Description
I really like the design on the new Prusa USS Drybox filament storage boxes and directly ordered 10+ of them for my Prusa Core One and Prusa XL printers.
I also like the idea with the small notches in the round middle part in the USS dry boxes to orient them precise in 90° angles to the printer. However on the Prusa XL this did not work out so well, because the complete spool holder part is just fixed with the 1 screw to the aluminum profile and the dry box keeps spinning around this 1 axes of the screw of course. This happens during fixing the dry box on the spool holder and during printing as well when there is some force on the filament.
To prevent this I made this little new adapter plate to help keeping the dry box better fixed to the Prusa XL.
Added a new adapter plate for the Prusa XL to prevent the USS boxes from spinning on the aluminum profiles on the printer.
Added 4 holes in the new adapter plate for 4 M3x10mm screws which will be permanently fixed to the spool holder puck part.
Together with the spool holder puck part this new adapter is then screwed onto the aluminum profile.
The 4 screw heads of the used M3x10mm screws disappear in the adapter part to prevent scratching the aluminum profiles of the Prusa XL.
Prints without supports or brim.
Super easy print and fix for these USS dry boxes.
4x M3x10 screw with cylinder head per spool holder
1x M4x14 or M4x16 screw per spool holder. The stock one M4x12 will be to short…
To get the 4x M3x10 screws more easy into the „puck“ part I drilled out the existing holes with a 2.5mm drill. This made the mounting of the adapter way more easy.
0.2 speed profile
Sequential printing output of the print files activated
Infill: 30%
No supports needed
No brim needed
Happy printing =)
