Description

This is a frame for the  Pimoroni inky impression PIM773 (2025 edition).

The idea is you get free access to cables and buttons, and the frame is naturally stable.

Hardware Needed

  1. 4x Non slip rubber feet

  2. 8x M2 small heat set inserts (3mm high)

  3. 4x M2*6mm + 4x M2 washers for screen

  4. 4x M2*8mm for case

Printing notes

  • Print the back part stood up, on its flat edge. This way you don't need supports

  • I wanted to try out hilbert curve finish for the front, so I printed it face up which needed a lot of support. Can't say I recommend doing this. Print face down on textured surface if you want a more interesting look. Note that printing face down will leave a support burr from the fillet, however

  • I was getting some warping with variable layer height and esun basic filament, so for my final print I did .20 layer height and just let it print overnight

  • 10% gyroid infill seems sufficient

  • Photos are the final print, in Prusament galaxy black

  • The corners of the screen hidden behind large fillets. These are to reduce warping and give an interesting look. I don't think its a huge deal, I just plan to use a margin or lose this area of the screen for whatever I end up using this for

Assembly Notes

  1. After heat set insert 80% inserted and still hot, use a wide flat metal surface (I used a 10mm alan key) to push in the remainder. This automatically aligns the insert to the frame.

  2. Do not over-tighten bolts holding the screen

  3. Final but vital step is to stick some self-adhesive rubber feet to the bottom to stop it sliding round the desk
