Sink-Rim Sponge Tray — Hooks Over the Rim, Drains Into the Basin

A single-bay sponge tray that hooks over the rim of a kitchen sink

and hangs the tray inside the basin. Sized to a standard kitchen

sponge (~95 × 60 × 25 mm) with ~5 mm slack on every side, snug enough

to keep the sponge in place but loose enough to slide in wet. Floor

drain slots and lower-wall drains let water run straight back into

the basin so the sponge dries between uses.

Geometry

• Tray — 100 × 65 × 28 mm inner volume.

• - Floor drains — long parallel slots in the floor, parallel to the

•   rim direction. Drips fall straight through.

• - Side / front / back drains — 32 mm horizontal slots near the

•   floor of every wall so the sponge isn't sitting in a sealed pool.

• - Hook clamp — back wall extends up and over the sink rim, then

•   drops a second leg back down to bed level. The two legs grip a

•   rim about 6 mm thick (typical drop-in stainless rim). The outer

•   leg doubles as an external water-runoff surface.

Print

• Orientation: open top UP. The outer hook leg drops all the way

•   to bed level so the whole print sits flat on the bed.

• - Supports: none required.

• - Layers: 0.2 mm.

• - Walls: 3.

• - Infill: 15 %.

• - Filament: ~80 g PLA.

Everything is parametric at the top of sink_sponge_tray.scad— the

sponge footprint, wall thickness, drain slot sizes, and most

importantly rim_grip_thickness(the gap between the back wall and

the outer leg). Print a test hook first if your rim is unusual; the

default 6 mm fits most drop-in stainless sinks.
