IKEA HAMMARÖN Pergola Canopy Slider Lock

You know, sometimes the best solutions are the simplest. This straightforward design is surprisingly effective at keeping everything secure.

The Problem: If you own an IKEA HAMMARÖN pergola, you know the frustration: when winter comes, you need to completely dismantle the canopy to store it properly. The canopy slides are designed as a closed extrusion, making removal unnecessarily complicated.

My Solution (Version 1): Last year, I cut the plastic extrusion on the sliders to create an open channel. This made canopy removal incredibly easy—just lift it off without any disassembly!

The New Problem: While this modification worked great for easy removal, strong winds started pulling the canopy off the tracks. Not ideal for those breezy summer days.

The Final Fix: This 3D-printed locker clip solves both problems. It secures the canopy to the modified slider track, preventing wind from dislodging it, while still allowing you to quickly remove the canopy when needed by simply unlocking the clips.

Note: This design requires you to first modify your HAMMARÖN sliders by cutting the closed extrusion to create an open track.
