Description
Notice: this is very old, dead project…
This is Casper. It's my very own mid-size delta 3D printer. Dimensions are 280x265x520mm, printable diameter is 160mm and printable height is about 200mm. Casper is driven with Nema14 steppers (including extruder, geared of course), has E3D v6 clone hotend with 0,3mm nozzle, cooling with 30x30 and 5015 fans. There is no heated bed, only ordinary glass as print surface, so printing is possible from PLA only. Using ANET mainboard with small hardware modification for calibration probe (mechanical contact from old CD drive). Endstops are small microswitches, from old computer mouse. Because of no heated bed, the power supply 12V/5A is sufficient. Extruder using MK8 feeder, small bearing 624ZZ and gear ratio 1:4,3. Diagonal arm is made from M3 threaded rod and ball joints. There are printed LM8UU bearings. All metal parts are aluminum tube 8mm diameter and aluminum profile 10x10x1mm
All printed parts are printed mostly from PETG-CF except cable holders, bearings, spool holder, bed holders and sidewalls (mainboard holder etc...). Printing resolution 0,2mm, printed on wooden Anet A8.
Whole thing is atached to MDF 8mm with 3x25mm screws.
Firmware is Marlin 1.1.8 and key parameters are:
Diagonal rod - 196.8mm
Effector offset - 30mm
Carriage offset - 16mm
Delta printable radius - 80mm
Delta height - 215mm
Delta smooth rod offset - 137mm
Axis step per unit - 200,200,200,1243
Default max feedrate - 100,100,100,50
Default max acceleration - 3000,3000,3000,8000
Default jerk - 5,5,5,5
Print bed is 3mm glass hexagon, where longer side is 180mm and shorter side is 77mm
You need print this:
2x motor base
1x motor base Z
2x pulley base
1x pulley base Z
3x pulley holder
3x endstop holder
3x carriage
6x rod tensioner
3x belt cover
6x LM8UU bearing
1x effector
1x effector holder 1
1x effector holder 2
1x fanduct as you like
1x probe holder
1x spool holder
1x extruder base
1x small gear
1x big gear
1x extruder arm
1x extruder nut holder
6x cable holder
6x bed holder
3x extruder cable holder
1x mainboard holder
1x mainboard back washer
1x mainboard front washer
1x mainboard "spring"
1x cable outlet
1x front (display) outlet
1x sign (CASPER)
2x sign holder
You also need this metal material:
9x 180mm of alu profile 10x10x1
1x 500mm of alu profile 10x10x1
6x 495mm of alu tube 8mm
3x pulley 16T for 2GT belt
12x ball rod ends M3
3x spring from ball point pen (30-35mm)
6x 180mm of threaded rod M3 (need to cut to apropriate length for 196mm diagonal rod)
some M3 bolts, nuts and washers
1x M5x50 bolt as extruder shaft
1x extruder feeder MK8
small piece (70-100mm) of alu "U" profile 8x8 for spool holder
some wires for probe and endstops
2x neodymium magnet 10x4 for probe holder
20x8mm spring, cut to half, for extruder
You also need this electronics and others:
3x Nema14 with 16T gear for axes
3x 110cm of 2GT 6mm timing belt
1x Nema14 with "D" shaft for extruder
4x mini microswitch (pitch of holes 6,5mm - from older mouse)
1x fan 30mm
1x 5015 fan
1x E3D V6 (clone) with PTFE heatbreak
60cm PTFE tube
1x pneumatic joint for 4mm PTFE tube
1x mainboard for ANET printer plus display
1x resistor 1K - this is need for mainboard modification
Modify mainboard is simple thing - add resistor 1K between pin of display socket nr.3 and +5V. This is needed for "pullup" probe pin. Calibration probe is attached to pin 3 and GND
Attached*.skp files for your modifications...
Update 09/26/2019 - i designed some new and better fanducts (3-holes the best IMHO) and new under-nozzle calibration probe holder for mini microswitch. Now it has a lot better autocalibration than older probe...
