Description
These Star Wars inspired poster tubes are as long or as short as you need them to be! Just print the lengths you need, just keep in mind that the caps add about 40mm. The hexagonal shape and indents add rigidity while maintaining the internal diameter. These tubes stack easier than a round tubes making storing and transporting a cinch. Also, because these use so little material you can finish up those pesky last meters.
If you have a nozzle that you think can comfortably print a line about 1.1mm, then you can just use vase mode, setting the bottom layers to zero for the tubes. If not, you can just fake it.
For the top and bottom caps, set your Top Layers and Sparse Infill to 0. Make sure to set Ensure Vertical Shell Thickness to None and Extra Perimeters on Overhangs to False. When printing the caps, you can set the bottom thickness to your preference, but about 1mm should be sufficient. For the tubes, turn off all bottom layers.
The difference between the inner and outer threads is 1.4mm. You will need to set your walls to print thinner than that. I set my Inner Wall Line Width to 0.6mm, and my Outer Wall Line Width to 0.5mm and only used two wall loops.
