Description

Clean up your toolhead wiring with this custom mount for the Mellow FLY SHT36 V3 toolboard, specifically designed to fit the Orbiter Extruder!

This mount features a lightweight hex-grid design that not only looks great but also ensures optimal airflow to keep the stepper driver and MCU cool. It is an ideal addition for high-speed Klipper setups where keeping toolhead weight to a minimum is crucial. The design uses separate spacers to provide enough clearance for the components on the back of the PCB.

Features:

  • Designed specifically for the Orbiter Extruder and FLY SHT36 V3.

  • Hex-pattern for weight reduction and passive cooling.

  • Uses standard M3 heat-set inserts for a secure hold.

Assembly Note: The spacers are printed separately and need to be attached to the main mount using a drop of super glue (CA glue). Once glued in place, you can melt in the heat-set inserts.

Hardware Required:

  • 2x M3 Heat-Set Inserts (Melt inserts) for mounting the toolboard.

  • M3 Screws to secure the board to the mount and the mount to the extruder.

  • Super Glue (CA Glue) to attach the spacers.

Recommended Print Settings: Since this mount will be located directly on the toolhead, near the hotend and bed, high-temperature resistance is required.

  • Material: ABS or ASA is highly recommended. PETG might work for lower-temp printing, but PLA will melt or warp very quickly.

  • Walls/Perimeters: 4 perimeters for extra strength around the heat-set inserts.

  • Infill: 30% - 40% (Gyroid, Cubic, or Honeycomb).

  • Top/Bottom Layers: 5.

  • Supports: Depending on your orientation, you might need minimal supports for the recessed areas or the mounting block.

Tip: Be careful not to push the heat-set inserts in too deep. stop when they are flush with the surface of the spacers.
