Description
This is a replacement standoff kit for Pimoroni NVME base and Waveshare POE hat (F). Somehow I jammed the original ones so bad they had to be ground/cut off, so I designed this replacement kit in plastic.
Aim is for 7mm standoff for NVME base, 16mm for POE hat. You will need 8x M2.5 short heat set inserts.
Print instructions
Rotate parts 30 degrees on Y axis before printing for added strength
Needs supports
Recommend hi temp filament (PETG) or equivalent
Print 4x of each standoff and one tool piece
Printing the tool in PLA and standoffs in PETG caused very tight fit for me, but was still usable. Be careful not to press standoffs too hard into the tool or they can get stuck
Assembly instructions
Use the tool to hold one (N)VME standoff and one (P)OE standoff securely
Use soldering iron to sink the inserts and a flat piece of metal like a 10mm Allen key to press it straight
Remove standoffs gently from tool with pliers
Repeat for remaining standoffs
With the Pi 5 face down, push the 4 NVME inserts through the mounting holes
Fold the NVME base onto the standoffs and secure with M2.5*4 bolts
Boot Pi, test drive working, flip stack the right way up and insert remaining standoffs. They will clamp firmly to the tongues of the bottom standoffs
Attach POE hat and secure with 4x M2.5*4 bolts
Test POE working, done!
Disassembly
To disassemble, just remove the bolts for the hat you want to remove and gently pull apart
