Description
Frankenstone is a highly customizable, modern low-poly lampshade designed for support-free 3D printing. Fully parametric in OpenSCAD, you can easily adjust its overall proportions, wall thickness for light translucency, and generate randomized, print-friendly arch window patterns.
Optimized by default for standard E27 lamp holders/cord grips (40.5mm mounting hole with a dedicated horizontal retaining shelf), but the mounting diameter can be modified instantly for E14 or custom fixtures.
Don't like the proportions? You can easily alter the total height, top diameter, waist bottleneck, bulge radius, and bottom opening diameter to create a completely unique shape.
Adjust the number of window rows, columns, base width, and height.
The script includes stable, seed-based pseudo-randomness. Toggle the variance sliders to subtly shuffle the width, height, and positioning of individual windows to break up the clean look for a more organic, algorithmic art piece.
By altering the wall_thickness parameter, you can perfectly tune the transparency of the shade according to your filament type (e.g., thin walls for translucent PLA/PETG glow, thicker walls for an opaque look).
Print upside-down. Use LED (or other low temperature) bulbs only. Because the upper overhangs stay within safe 45-55 angles, the entire lampshade can be printed completely without supports.
Material Recommendations: Translucent or matte White PLA, PETG, or specialty wood/stone filaments for an authentic architectural finish.
If you liked Frankenstone and printed your unique version, you would personally make me very happy by publishing your make! :)
