Description
The Panasonic 3DO FZ-1 needs extra bits of plastic to hold the drive door in place after the removal of the original drive and installing of an ODE. There is a set of models that claims to serve this purpose, however they don't fit nicely at all for my unit, the door is protruding from the console slightly, and the pieces are very difficult to print properly due to lack of volume. So here is a solution that fits my unit nicely.
For compatibility checking - the serial number of my unit is 4DKSB69405. The optical drive is CR-506-B. The markings on the inside of my top casing is:
DFKM0161
OSAKA MEIBAN CO.,LTD. A1051-7
The door will sit flush with the console exterior and have an equal gap between the two sides and the top.
Print normally. If you encounter any problem, use a raft or brim (or fix your printer).
After printing, check all the grooves and clean up any stringing, which will make installation easier and prevent damage to the original shell.
Slide the two pieces all the way in onto the rails on the two sides of the drive door as shown in the picture.
Slide the assembly all the way into the rails on the top shell as shown in the picture.
Note the top shell in the picture is upside down. Make sure the rails slide into the grooves or the door won't sit flush.
Close the top shell back onto the console and reinstall screws.
The drive door should have an equal gap between the sides and the top. If the gap on the top is too small (it cannot be too big), push the door down with fingernail or a plastic tool.
