Description
This is a replacement air vent vane/louver/slat for Volkswagen Transporter T5 and T5.1 dashboard vents.
After years of use, the original vent vanes can become brittle, crack, or break, leaving the dashboard vent looking untidy and making airflow direction difficult to control. This model provides a replacement vane designed to restore the appearance and functionality of the factory air vent. In my case, I had a handy air-tube for the kids in the rear, and I smacked the attachment with my elbow and broke a single vent vane, hence why I put some time in to design a model. All I found online was folks talking about replacing the entire vent, where the prices are soaring and the task involved taking parts of the dash apart, I had other plans!
Model is compatible for vents found in:
Volkswagen Transporter T5 (2003-2009)
Volkswagen Transporter T5.1 (2010-2015)

Printing Recommendations
PETG recommended for improved heat resistance inside a vehicle.
ASA or ABS is even better for higher-temperature environments (I used ASA).
PLA may deform if the vehicle interior becomes very hot in direct sunlight, I only used this for testing.
Print orientation should be chosen to maximise strength around the mounting points.
I printed vertically, with support modifiers for the ends only. I used 100% infill (solid) and ASA filament. I did not use a brim but I did slow my 1st layer down to ensure good adhesion, especially because of the filament of choice.
Installation
Remove any remaining pieces of the broken vane from the vent assembly and install the replacement in the original position. Depending on the condition of the vent mechanism, gentle fitting may be required. I found upon installing, use the empty vane space as a demarcation for how much you can bend the model to enable insertion on both ends. I was surprised how easy it was to replace, slow and confident motions with a bit of bending and it snaps right into place. Please note, there is NO need to take any part of the dashboard, or the vent surround apart/out. This is a push/bend and pop-in install only :)
