Parametric Self-Watering Pod Insert (Clip-Together Design)

This model is a fully parametric self-watering insert designed to convert existing plant pods into a passive irrigation system. It is intended to fit inside a wide range of decorative or functional plant containers, making it easy to upgrade standard pots into self-watering systems.

The design uses a clip-together construction, allowing the parts to be printed separately and assembled securely without glue.


Key Features

Fully Parametric Design

All critical dimensions can be customized to match your specific plant pot:

  • Total height

  • Upper diameter (plant zone)

  • Lower diameter (base interface at reservoir level)

  • Water reservoir height

  • Wick diameter

This makes the system adaptable to nearly any container geometry.


Self-Watering System

The pod uses a simple passive wicking system:

  • Water is stored in the lower reservoir

  • A wick transports moisture upward into the soil

  • Ensures consistent hydration without overwatering


Clip-Together Assembly

The design is split into parts that:

  • Snap together securely

  • Require no glue in normal use

The Models Provided fit a IKEA BOYSENBÄR 20cm, if i remember Correctly.
