Description
I have two more similar models with the same dimensions: a height of 240 mm and a top diameter of 200 mm. However, to reduce material consumption—which currently amounts to about 350 g—I have thinned the side wall at the base and even more so toward the top. If you use the 0.8 mm nozzle, printing takes 6 hours; with the 0.4 mm nozzle, it takes 13 hours. I’ve attached screenshots from the Orca Slicer where you can get an idea of the print time, weight, and some of the print parameters. Reducing the print time with the 0.8 mm nozzle is important, but I won’t dare to work on one of the models until I’m sure the material is of good quality. The last cheap roll of PETG Matte I bought from a local supplier, who imports from China, turned out to be very difficult to work with, and for a print where aesthetics matter, I’m waiting to check the next color. If it’s okay, I’ll print one of the models with the 0.8 mm nozzle. In the future, I’ll make another model like this, but I want the exterior to include a new type of attachment for which I haven’t yet found a solution in FreeCAD. I hope you like it.
P.S. I printed one of the models using a 0.8 mm nozzle. Considering the "quality" of the material, I'm satisfied with the result. The PETG is particularly flexible at the top, where the wall is thinner, which I really like. Given the thickness of the top wall, I think a 0.6 mm nozzle is better suited. It printed in 5 hours and 30 minutes using variable layer height; with a fixed layer height, it would have taken 6 hours. It’s possible I could achieve a better finish without varying the layer height, but the material used is finicky.
