Description
GX617-Style Lens Cage V2 for Infidex 176 V
A protective lens cage inspired by the iconic Fujifilm GX617 Professional panoramic camera, designed for the Infidex 176 V 3D-printed panoramic 35mm camera by Denis Aminev.
The problem this solves
The Infidex 176 V with a Mamiya 80mm lens is front-heavy. When hanging from a neck strap using the stock strap mounting points on the camera body, the lens droops down significantly. The camera hangs at an awkward angle, which is uncomfortable and puts stress on the body.
This cage fixes that by moving the strap anchor points forward onto the cage frame itself, shifting the center of gravity closer to the strap attachment. The result: the camera hangs level and balanced around your neck instead of nose-diving.
Features
GX617-inspired design — tubular cage frame that echoes the legendary Fujifilm GX617 Professional panoramic camera silhouette
Rebalanced strap anchor points — strap mounts are on the cage and positioned forward, so the camera hangs level instead of drooping lens-down (see photos)
Compatible with Peak Design anchors — the strap points work with Peak Design anchor links and similar quick-disconnect systems
Drop-in installation — slides onto the camera body with no modifications, no glue, no permanent changes to your Infidex
Designed for the helicoid 80mm lens — cage geometry is optimized for the focusing helicoid mount with a Mamiya 80mm f/2.8 lens
Simple hardware — secured with just 4x M3 x 14mm screws
Full lens access — the shutter speed ring, aperture ring, and focus helicoid all remain fully accessible through the cage
Before vs After
Without cage: Camera nose-dives when hanging from neck strap. The heavy Mamiya lens pulls the front down, making the camera hang at a steep angle.
With cage: Camera hangs level and balanced. The forward-positioned strap points on the cage compensate for the lens weight, distributing the load evenly.
Compatibility
Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
Camera | Infidex 176 V |
Lens mount | Focusing Helicoid (80mm Mamiya) |
Hardware | 4x M3 x 14mm screws |
Strap system | Any strap with Peak Design anchors or standard split rings |
Modifications needed | None — drop-in fit |
This cage is designed specifically for the helicoid 80mm lens configuration. It has not been tested with the Classic Cone or Tube mount variants, and likely will not fit due to different lens mount geometry.
Print settings
Setting | Recommended |
|---|---|
Nozzle | 0.4 mm |
Layer height | 0.2 mm |
Inner perimeters | 4 (for rigidity and impact resistance) |
Infill | 25% or higher |
Material | PLA, HT-PLA, or PETG recommended |
PETG is strongly recommended over PLA — this is a protective part that will take bumps and impacts. The cage needs to absorb shocks to protect your lens.
Assembly
Print all cage parts
Slide the cage onto the Infidex 176 V body — no modification required
Secure with 4x M3 x 14mm screws
Thread your Peak Design anchors (or split rings) through the cage's strap mounts
Clip on your strap and enjoy a balanced carry

Design inspiration
The Fujifilm GX617 Professional is a legendary 6x17 panoramic film camera known for its distinctive tubular protective cage around the lens. That cage is both functional (protecting the large front element) and iconic (one of the most recognizable silhouettes in panoramic photography).
This accessory brings that same concept to the 3D-printed Infidex 176 V — adding real lens protection, an integrated lens hood, and the unmistakable GX617 look. When you hang it from a strap, people will notice.
