Description
A single-piece letter opener with a leaf-shaped blade and an ornamental filigree handle. 210 mm long, 30 mm at the widest, 3.5 mm thick. Lays completely flat on the bed and prints with no supports.
The blade has a single-edge chisel grind: the back face is flat, the front face slopes down toward one long edge and the tip, knife-style. The other long edge (the spine) stays full thickness, so it is blunt and safe to push on. It opens envelopes cleanly but is nowhere near sharp enough to cut skin.
The handle carries a quatrefoil rosette in the center, two flanking ovals on each side, and a hang hole at the butt so it can live on a hook.
PRINTING
PETG strongly recommended: the long thin blade flexes in PLA and PETG keeps a bit of springiness instead of snapping. Print flat (as oriented in the STL), 0.2 mm layers, 4 walls (the part is mostly walls at this thickness), no supports, no brim needed.
The OpenSCAD source is attached, fully parametric: overall length, thickness, handle proportions, blade bulge, bevel inset and which edge is sharpened are all variables at the top of the file.
