In a world driven by closed systems and hidden code, one mechanical titan stands for absolute freedom: Bolt, the heavy-metal embodiment of the Open Sauce spirit.
But Bolt doesn’t fight the battle for open collaboration alone. To spread the message across the desktop arenas, he deployed his ultimate tactical unit: The Open Sauce Vanguard - also called "flying sauce."
This is a Space-Invader-inspired personal capsule piloted by a mini-clone of Bolt himself. Rocketing down from the skies, these spinning defenders land on the battleground to crash through barriers and defend the open-source collective.
When they spin, they don't just fight—they generate the raw, kinetic energy of shared ideas. We are legion.
As seen in the technical cross-section, this battle top is engineered for maximum stability with a lot of mass (using washers) to bring the center of inertia down and a high inertia (mass accumulation far away from the Axis) - this is why I think you dont need a LAUNCHER - (a LOT of) Intertia outperforms speed (thats why you need a laucher at "light" models)
Pilot Cabin: Features Bolt’s iconic robot face, acting as the perfect aerodynamic command center.
Mass Customization: Built with an internal clearance area specifically designed to hold standard washers. Add washers to customize the weight, lower the center of gravity, and outlast any opponent in the arena.
Printing: after loading the STL into the slicer hit "split objects" and place it on the print plate as shown on the picture - add supports on the printplate to get better stability for the domes for both parts
Assembly: stick in the BOLT - add washers at the center - and glue everything together - can be tricky if there is warpage on the surfaces - but works depending on the filament
This hybrid construction is engineered to dominate purely 3D-printed (light) opponents:
Perimeter Weight: The capsule geometry forces the printed mass to the outer edge, maximizing inertia and spin time. Impuls = Inertia x Angular velocity - to be on a par with a launcher spinner - this spinner should have roughly 10 Times more intertia - if this is the case with this design ... I have no idea but I think you get the concept
Low Center of Gravity: Heavy steel washers stack at the absolute lowest point of the internal shaft for maximum stability.
Support-Free: Optimized to print perfectly without complex supports straight off the build plate.
Theory vs. Reality: It wobbles like hell... but it is fun!
