Description
Tesla used to sell a kit for the 18" aero wheels that was a hub cover and lug nut covers. It's now available as a single piece aero wheel cap kit locally, so I modeled this as my older style kit lost one of the nut covers
There are lots of Tesla wheel lug nut covers available as STLs but they don't look like the originals with the domed top, which wouldn't suit as I wanted to have this one blend in
I printed with 0.15mm structural settings, 15% adaptive cubic infill and the HF0.4 nozzle. The 0.15mm layer height makes for a satisfyingly smooth result on the dome
This model prints on its side with inbuilt raft and supports.
The closest colour I had on the shelf is eSun PLA matte dark grey but I'm sure there are better matches available. It will remain to be seen how well this weathers, and if that helps it blend more with the originals or not. Another future option is to print in any colour and replace the whole set of course.
Using the above settings it weighs in at 2.3g against the original at 1.7g in case you are curious as I was
PLA black at back, matte grey at right and original left front for comparison. The matte grey contrast is less obvious walking past the car imho
Internal geometry matte grey print on right and original on left
