Twist Lid Present Box - PrintInPlace. No glue needed design.
On my way to a new twist lock mechanism present box which will not need to be glued together and featuring an electronic combination lock (coming soon) I experimented a lot with this twist lock mechanism to secure the lid of the present box as close and tight as possible to the box. Now being really happy with the twist lock mechanism still without the code mechanism I thought some of you want to use the box without the code lock already… So here it is. =)
In the next picture you might notice the small notches on the red inner round part hitting the 2 square notches in the lid part. These two parts prevent the mechanism to rotate to open position all the time. So the twist lock lid is opened in the first spin orientation and closed in the other spin orientation only:
When spinning the twist lock the red inner round part push on the 4 darker marks hinges and they pull on the 4 pins that interlock in the cutouts in the box part.
Just add 4x M3x14mm, 4x M3x12mm, 1x M3x20 for the top part and especially important use Nyloc M3 nuts in the parts and the lid will work fine with the twist lock mechanism. If you will use usual M3 nuts the screws will get loose after some usage. Don’t ask me why I’m aware of this please. ;-)
