Description

A Ø200 mm round wall clock written in Tengwar — twelve authentic

duodecimal hour numerals around the dial — with slim elvish leaf-blade

hands. It is a real clock, not just an engraved disc: an integrated

standoff back wall turns the face into a shallow dish so a standard

quartz movement hides completely inside and never touches the wall, and

a rear deep-channel keyhole hangs the whole thing on a single ordinary

wall screw.

Movement you need (precise spec)

This dial is cut for a UTS "UTS15" German quartz movement — the

European (German) shaft standard, not the American/Asian I-shaft.

  • Movement: UTS "UTS15", German Euro-shaft, ~56–57 mm square

  •   body, ~16 mm deep, runs on 1× AA battery.

  • - Shaft length: 13.8 mm, the variant rated for a **3–4 mm thick

  •   dial** (this face is 4.0 mm). A shorter shaft will not reach through.

  • - Hands fit (Euro-shaft): hour pipe Ø5.0, minute shaft Ø3.5

  •   round-with-two-flats (keyed), so the printed hands' bores match this

  •   standard exactly. An I-shaft movement will not fit the hands.

  • - Uses the movement's own supplied hand-nut to clamp the minute hand.

That is the whole shopping list besides the printer: the UTS15 movement

(+ its nut), one AA battery, and one wall screw (pan/round head

≤ Ø10, shank ≤ Ø4.5; add a wall plug for masonry/drywall).

The numeral and tick in-fills are coordinate-locked to the dial's

engraved recesses — import a colour file and **right-click → Split to

Parts** in Bambu Studio, assign each solid a filament, and the in-fills

land in the recesses with zero drift. The two veined hands work the same

way (body + veins). Prefer paint? Skip the in-fill STLs, print the dial

alone, and brush acrylic into the engraved grooves.

(No second hand — this build uses a sweep movement without one.)

Print

  • Dial: prints FACE-DOWN (already pre-flipped). Flat engraved

  •   face on the bed for the best surface + adhesion; the cavity, movement

  •   seat and keyhole all open upward → no supports (the keyhole catch

  •   lip is a self-supporting 45° funnel). 0.2 mm layers, 3 walls, 15 %

  •   infill.

  • - Hands: print flat, no supports.

  • - PLA or PETG, any 0.4 mm FDM (designed on a Bambu Lab P2S).

Source

tengwar_clock.scadis fully parametric (dial diameter, numeral ring,

tick ring, movement seat, keyhole). The hands live in src/hands.scad

(shaft bores match the UTS Euro-shaft). Re-export with the bundled

build.sh.
