Description

What is this remix for?

This is an alternative option for filling the base with ballast made from laser‑cut metal plates. The plate thickness is optional — the full stack of inserted plates should be approximately 8 mm thick.

The set includes a DXF file for laser‑cut ballast plates and a modified base with the internal chamfer removed, allowing the entire cavity to be filled with metal ballast.

How to print:

Print the base in any material and with any settings you prefer.

Assembly:

Fill the base with the required number of laser‑cut plates. I cut my ballast from 0.5 mm stainless steel sheets — I managed to fit 15 pieces, with a total weight of 262 g.

Acknowledgements:

I would like to thank @JohnCrombie_629989 for sharing the great idea for the spacemouse, and @InnerBushman_2828823, who improved and reduced this project — that spring in the magnet plate is amazing!!!

Tips:

If you want to fill the original base with metal ballast plates, fill the first 2 mm of height using the reduced plate cut from b1.dxf, which I placed in the Archiw folder.
The remaining 6 mm of height should be filled with plates matching the ballast_plate.dxf profile.

This is exactly how I built the ballast in my own 3D mouse.
