Description
The moment I saw people 3D printing cases for the Xteink X4, I knew I had to make a Pokédex case!
This case can be 3D printed as-is, or in multicolour if you want the full Pokédex look! Since I don't have access to a multicolour printer, I used model kit paint, markers, and black panel line accent colour to make my case look the part!
Foldable case
Xteink attaches magnetically with the included magnetic ring.
No external parts needed
USB port is accessible with the case on
Print the lid front face down for the best surface. The model shown was printed on a textured build plate with a Hilbert Curve top surface to match the textured finish.
I have included a multibody model if you want to use a multicolour printer for the lid. Please note that this file is untested as of publishing, so please let me know if any adjustments are needed (and post a make so others can see how it looks!).
See the image gallery for a picture of the case before painting.
To assemble, cut a piece of filament about 9 cm long and insert it all the way into the holes from the top. Open and close the case to make sure they are fully seated. Pull the filament back out about 5 mm, snip it off with pliers and use the leftover piece to push the filament all the way into the case. Repeat for the other side.
Use the double-sided tape on the magnetic ring to attach it, or just a piece of regular tape on top if you're only trying the case out. I tested the case for about a month with just the tape, and it worked just fine.
