SQUATCHEE-SPIN

Turn any baseball cap into a propeller beanie in seconds.

Snap it on the button. Walk. Grin.

SQUATCHEE-SPIN turns almost any standard baseball cap into a classic propeller beanie in about three seconds — no glue, no screws, no magnets, and no modifications to your cap.

The mount clips directly onto the small fabric-covered button on top of a baseball cap (officially called a squatchee). Six flexible PETG fingers snap underneath the button's rim for a secure mechanical grip. Drop the propeller onto the spindle, click on the tiny retaining cap, and you're done.

The best part? The retainer is itself shaped like a miniature squatchee, so your cap's button gets its own tiny hat.

Features

  • Fits standard baseball cap top buttons (squatchees)

  • No glue, hardware, or permanent modifications

  • Fully 3D printable with no supports

  • Three-part assembly

  • Installs or removes in seconds

  • Serviceable design allows propeller swaps and easy disassembly

  • Lightweight at only 7.9 g total

  • Spins while walking and keeps turning in a light breeze

Compatibility

Designed for standard baseball cap buttons between 14 mm and 19 mm diameter.

Compatible with:

  • Baseball caps

  • Dad caps

  • Snapbacks

  • Trucker caps

  • Most caps using standard covered top buttons

Not compatible with:

  • Caps without a top button

  • Oversized flat-top buttons larger than 19 mm

  • Buttons sewn completely flush to the fabric with no underside lip

The mount uses mechanical capture rather than friction, clipping underneath the button rim for a secure attachment.

Material Notes

Mount: PETG is strongly recommended because the retaining fingers flex during installation and removal.

Propeller: PLA or PETG both work well.

Retainer: Any common printing material is suitable.

Print Settings

  • Supports: None required

  • Layer height: 0.20 mm recommended

  • Perimeters: 3

  • Infill: 20–25%

  • Orientation: Print exactly as supplied in the STLs

    • Mount: fingers down

    • Propeller: flat on bed

    • Retainer: brim down

Typical print time is approximately 45–60 minutes total on a standard 0.4 mm nozzle printer.

Assembly

Assembly takes less than 10 seconds:

  1. Align the mount over the cap button and press down until it clicks into place.

  2. Drop the propeller onto the spindle.

  3. Push the retainer onto the spindle tip until it clicks.

  4. Spin. Strut. Enjoy.

Design Notes

SQUATCHEE-SPIN may look like a joke print, but the design received considerably more engineering attention than strictly necessary.

  • Propeller balanced around the spin axis.

  • Generous pivot clearance prevents binding even on printers that run slightly tight.

  • Snap features are designed for repeated assembly and disassembly.

  • All parts print support-free.

  • Entire assembly weighs less than eight grams.

Because overengineering silly things is fun.

Safety

  • Intended as a novelty accessory for hats and costumes.

  • Do not attach to bicycle, motorcycle, climbing, or safety helmets.

  • Avoid use around machinery or environments where spinning parts may snag.

  • Contains small parts and is not suitable for children under 3 years old.

Why "Squatchee"?

That little button on top of your baseball cap actually has a name: the squatchee.

Now you know.

And now your squatchee can wear its own squatchee.
