Description
This is an improved version of my previous fan bracket, that is tethered.
The story: My original metal fan bracket bent, so I made the 3D printed replacement. That eventually broke (when the extruder hit a blob, or something), and then the fan dangled by the wires, eventually hung off the edge of the bed, and the fan and wires got ripped off when the print head moved far away. So this version of the fan bracket has two hook posts on it, to which you attach a light extension spring. The idea is that if the bracket breaks, the extension spring will retract the fan and bracket up, tethering it and holding it high enough that it won't dangle off the bed edge and get ripped off. I actually designed this almost two years ago, but haven't had it break again to test it... until today. As you can see in the attached pictures, it did its job! It tethered, and dangled just low enough to barely scrape the bed, but not far enough to get hooked on anything. That spring length seemed to work good, though a slightly shorter one may hold it just a bit higher. However, if you use too short of a spring, it might stretch it when in the extended position, and then it wouldn't work at all... so be careful.
Use extension spring from this kit: 200Pcs 20 Kinds Zinc Plated Steel Coil Spring Wire Metal Extension and Compression Spring Repair Tool Assortment Kit https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HMRVZF3/ Spring labeled: Ext. 8.73x46.8 Imperial equivalent: Ø11/32" x 1-27/32"L (Ø0.34375" x 1.84375"L) NOTE: I'm not sure how that is measured, because it doesn't match the actual spring. The actual spring measures ~Ø0.315" OD x 1.210"L (coil only, no connecting loops), or 1.780"L (outside to outside of connecting loops, though the loops are NOT bent completely 90° to the coil, but if they were, two measured coil diameters of Ø0.315" added to coil length 1.210"L would be =1.84", so that would check out).
Supports:
Yes
Resolution:
0.20-0.30mm
Infill:

Notes:
It needs a tiny bit of support just under the downward facing spring hook post. You can easily use an organic support on a support enforcer to do this.
