Description
This 3D model represents Topoisomerase I bound to the its DNA substrate. This enzyme regulates DNA topology by introducing transient single-strand breaks in DNA. Through a catalytic tyrosine residue, the enzyme forms a covalent bond with one of the DNA backbones, allowing controlled rotation of the DNA strand to release supercoiling. After relaxation, the DNA is religated. This model highlights the molecular mechanism of DNA strand management and is intended for educational and scientific visualization or decoration.
