Marantec M3-631 Garage Door Remote Opener Cover

This is a replacement cover for the Marantec M3-631 garage door opener remote control that mounts outside the door. The original parts were not designed well and the plastic cover and housing gets brittle with age and exposure to the elements. The hinges for the cover were also not designed to last. They get brittle and break long before the actual control panel and buttons fail. The opener is discontinued and a replacement cover is not available through the company. I designed this cover to help protect the control panel buttons. This design differs from the original design slightly in shape, but it works fine. I also made the hinge extensions more durable so that they don't break as easy as the original part. Also, THIS DESIGN RELIES ON ADDITIONAL METAL HINGE PINS (I used some odd aluminum rod to cut the correct hinge pins), which will require you to carefully drill receiving holes into the main housing. Be very careful when making this modification because with the brittle plastic it is easy to break the main housing. Before making any modifications, I strongly suggest that you remove and disassemble the main control unit to become familiar with its construction, possible internal parts that could get damaged, and how you might modify your unit to accept this new cover. My replacement cover weathered the summer without any signs of fatigue. Good luck.

Update: 05 Dec. 2021 -- still in use and no signs of degradation from winter/summer conditions, including direct sunlight.

Update:  01 Jun. 2025 -- We needed to replace the opener, so we no longer use this Marantec remote, but the lid was still working fine up until it was replaced in the middle of 2025.
